Meet Dr. Tina Williams
I am a doctorally prepared, triple-board certified Nurse Practitioner. I am licensed in the state of Georgia and maintain board certifications as a Psychiatric, Family and Midwife Nurse Practitioner. I am highly qualified to assess, diagnose, order and treat, including prescribe medications similar to my physician colleagues. When needed and appropriate, I collaborate with other health care professionals like physicians, therapists, counselors, dietitians, pharmacists and others to deliver a well-rounded experience and improved outcome.

My Story
I am a proud graduate of Vanderbilt and Emory University where I completed a doctorate in nursing practice and multiple degrees in nursing, respectively. I have a Post Master’s in Psych-Mental Health from Georgia College and State University. Post secondary school, I obtained a Bachelor’s in Biology from High Point University. I maintain three board-certifications as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry, Family and Midwifery, which makes me highly qualified to care for you and your entire family. My love for learning may be obvious, but while highly educated and experienced, my path to success has been and remains humble. I have a patient-centered, comprehensive and integrated approach, caring for individuals and families ethically with compassion, integrity, inclusion and equity.
I am a mother of 3, spouse, friend, working woman of color and survivor. My super power is optimism.

Understanding Mental Health Providers
Psychiatrists are physicians (medical doctors) who focus on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, often using medications as the primary treatment.
Psychologists and therapists use talk therapy and other evidence-based techniques to help individuals work through challenges and improve mental well-being.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) take a holistic approach to care—focusing on prevention, wellness, and treatment—while also prescribing medications when appropriate.
Nurse Practitioners & Physician Associates
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Associates (PAs) are advanced-trained, board-certified medical professionals who may practice under the supervision of a physician. They are qualified to:
-
Diagnose conditions
-
Create and manage treatment plans; collaborate well
-
Prescribe medications (in most states)
In the U.S., as of 2025, 30 states and the District of Columbia allow NPs to practice independently—without physician oversight—to the fullest extent of their training and licensure. Georgia does not currently grant NPs full practice authority.
Education & Credentials
-
Psychiatrists: MD or DO degree
-
Psychologists: PhD or PsyD
-
Nurse Practitioners: DNP or PhD (most also hold a Master’s in Nursing)
-
Physician Associates: Master’s degree; some hold doctoral degrees
-
Therapists: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy; some hold doctoral degrees
All must pass rigorous board certification exams and hold active licensure in the state where they practice.
Collaborative Care
For many patients, the most effective approach combines therapy and medication management.
-
A Psychiatrist or Psychiatric-Mental Health NP may provide medication management.
-
A Therapist or Psychologist may provide ongoing talk therapy.
At Vital Integrative Solutions, services are provided by a board-certified doctorally-prepared Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP, PMHNP- BC) who works collaboratively with a physician to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.
